Downtown Juba Southern Sudan
Juba in south Sudan is Africa’s newest capital city in its newest country. The largely non-Moslem population voted overwhelmingly for independence from Khartoum. Before the final severance, Square Mile reporter, Zeinab Badawi, toured downtown Juba to find an apprehensive population – will an oil-rich newly independent South Sudan descend into corruption and tribal violence? Or will it surprise everyone and use its oil revenues to build a stable African democracy?
