outreach by television

Most of our programmes are broadcast first on BBC World News, the world’s most watched global news and current affairs TV network reaching 260 million homes.

After an initial BBC broadcast the programmes are seen:

12 times on TV5 Monde, brodcast in 10 languages with an average audience of 170 million viewers every week, in 203 territories.

21 times on Al Jazeera, broadcast in English, with an outreach to 44 million homes.

Via these leading satellite outlets in English, French and Arabic our programming can be received in close to 500 million homes.

Through channels like Caribvision and RFO, in the USA and the Caribbean, and via the Eurovision Network, we can also reach more than 1000 TV channels, in 5 continents.

Our programmes have been shown on over 100 national TV channels, in Europe, the Middle East, the Asia Pacific region and Africa.

On the news

we produce stand-alone Video News Releases to mark major events in the international calendar.

3 to 5 minute news feature distributed via satellite on such services as: EBU (Europe), ABU (Asia Pacific), ASBU (Middle East), NABA (North America), OTI (Latin America), CBU (Caribbean) and URTNA (Africa).

Other Platforms

We also place emphasis on viewer participation. Our production team is experienced in organising televised studio debates where viewers send in questions and projects such as the BBC’s World Challenge where viewers nominate and vote for sustainable development businesses.

Via You Tube postings, producer blogs, Twitter up-dates and Facebook and other social networks we reach new audiences, empowering them to use the output to inform public opinion.
